Consumer Groups in Fashion Cycle

ü  Fashion consumer groups include fashion change agents (i.e. innovators, Opinion leaders, innovative communicators) and fashion followers.

ü  Consumers can be identified with various stages of the fashion cycle. Fashion leaders buy and wear new styles at the beginning of their cycles; others tend to imitate.

ü  Manufactures and retailers may also be identified as fashion leaders or followers, depending upon which consumer groups they target.

1. Fashion Leaders

A fashion icon or fashion leader is a influential person who introduces new styles which spread throughout fashion culture and become part of fashion. They initiate a new style which others may follow. They may be famous personalities such as political leaders, celebrities, or sports personalities.

 

2. Fashion Innovators

Fashion innovators are the main purchasers of design at the starting stage. They have a huge effect on the item at the later stages. Expanding on this, this study endeavors to accomplish four primary goals. As design trend- setters are the central purchasers of style at the starting stage, they have a critical effect on the item at the later stages.


3. Fashion Motivators

They are usually the fashion leaders who have a celebrity status due to their wealth, lineage, status, or beauty to become fashion role models. They are seen in films, on television and every social event that they attend, are photographed by the press.

 

4. Fashion Victim

A fashion victim is someone who thinks that being fashionable is more important than looking nice, and as a result often wears very fashionable clothes that do not suit them or that make them look silly.

 

5. Fashion Followers

A fashion follower is someone who has a strong interest in the industry, perhaps to the point that it dominates their daily lives. However, depending on who you ask, this phrase may mean something else.

Some people associate being a fashion follower not only with designer clothing but also with clothing in general. While some would argue that a fashion follower is fundamentally a trend follower, others would argue that they don’t just follow trends. It follows that numerous concepts of fashion followers exist.
